What is FTC?
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a global robotics program for students ages 12-18. Each season, teams build 18" cubed robots from scratch, program autonomous and driver-controlled routines, and compete in alliances on a themed game field. Success requires engineering rigor, reliable software, strategic thinking, and outstanding teamwork.
The 2024-2025 challenge, Into the Deep, tasks alliances with collecting specimens, hanging in the endgame, and collaborating with partners to maximize scoring potential. Teams earn judged awards for innovation, documentation, outreach, and impact—making FTC much more than the two minutes on the clock.
Beyond the robots, FTC emphasizes gracious professionalism and coopertition. Teams share resources, mentor rookies, and celebrate creativity. Universities and industry leaders recognize FTC participants for their hands-on experience, leadership, and resilience.
